Ministry

David’s work in the world of ministry began a number of years ago, after speaking to a group on “Spiritual Rejuvenation”, a woman in the audience invited him to be their preacher at a Baptist church the upcoming Sunday.

When David replied, “Thank you so much for your offer, but I’m not a minister” she replied… “You have no idea, you have been preaching for years , and you’re one of the top ministers I’ve ever listened to.”

After that, David became inspired to become an ordained minister within the next two years.

Since that time, he filled in for several months as the acting minister at the “Center for Spiritual  Living Church”, Cape Coral , Florida, which eventually led him to become the pastor of a different church. After leaving his pastorship, he became a traveling minister.

Over the years he has given sermons that have resulted in standing ovation’s at several different Unity Church’s , a variety  of other nondenominational churches as well as to the surprise of many, even the Roman Catholic Church.

Reverend David’s sermon
“The Four Steps for Spiritual Rejuvenation”

He has led many weddings as well as funerals, and his work one on one has helped thousands of people to go deeper in their spiritual path, and create “spiritual rejuvenation”, when many thought there was little or no hope left in their lives.

Currently, on top of his counseling work, he is once again traveling as a minister, filling in for churches that are in search of a new minister, as well as those who whose congregation enjoys occasional participation from high-energy, deep thinking guest ministers.

Reverend David can create a sermon for you based on any and all of your needs… From forgiveness, to spiritual rejuvenation, to finding hope in a chaotic world, to reclaiming a deeper love relationship, understanding the keys of spirituality and prosperity, and any other topic that you believe is relevant for your congregation.

Here’s a thought from David on spiritual rejuvenation:

I believe that spiritual rejuvenation, complete with daily action steps, can help us live with powerful attitudes in an incredibly challenging world.

But spiritual rejuvenation doesn’t always come in nice packages. For some, a deeper spiritual path begins after a DUI, bankruptcy, a divorce… Or a serious challenge brought upon us by health issues , the  death of a loved one or even losing a job. Some seek out a deeper spiritual path due to boredom in life, when nothing feels fulfilling anymore.  Through my sermons, I give stories of how we can use these challenges as a jumping off point to deepen our path, to deepen our faith, and to not only see a light at the end of the tunnel… But to become that light for ourselves and others.

He is the author of 10 books, three of which have incredibly deep spiritual messages including:

“Rockstar: Finding God’s Purpose for Your Life”

“Heaven on Earth: God Speaks Through the Heart of a Young Monk”

“Angel on a Surfboard: Lessons About True Love from the Divine Messenger”

One of his #1 best selling books, “Focus! Slay your goals…..The proven guide to huge success, a powerful attitude and profound love”, offers a step by step guide to radically change your life, steps that are recommended for those looking for a deeper connection to God and life.

Rev. David Essel Recent Sermons

Most churches that bring David in as a guest minister to do the sermon, also have asked him to offer two hour workshops in the afternoon, in order to help the congregation grow and also as a way to add to the church revenue.

Here are just a few of the many titles of sermons and workshops David has offered to congregations in the past. If there is something different then listed here, David can accommodate your needs and create a workshop directly in line with your desires:

  • Divine Union, Divine Love: When we discuss divine union, we’re talking about two people coming together and putting the concept of the relationship above the individual self and individual needs. In divine love, we talk not only about doing this but also about bringing God, or a higher power into the relationship. David discusses the steps to take to create both divine union, and divine love, with a partner, or for ourselves.
  • Radical Forgiveness of Self and Others: Turning the other cheek is never enough. It sounds good, and of course Christ was able to do this, but as far as I can tell, I’m not Christ and I’m not quite sure you might be either. So here on earth, humans have to learn the four key steps for radical forgiveness of others, that can also be used on our self. Remember, whenever we are in difficult relationships with friends, lovers and or family members… Forgiveness is the only way to release the burden, and to come back to our true self.
  • The Steps for Spiritual Rejuvenation: This, is probably one of the most important topics we could ever discuss. Spiritual rejuvenation is a form of self-love. Whether we do it by going away on a retreat, or getting up earlier in the morning to meditate and pray, or maybe finding spiritual rejuvenation through our service to others, and maybe, just maybe, by reaching out to a child or teen in desperate need of adult intervention, we can experience the depth of spiritual rejuvenation we all desire.
  • Overcoming Obstacles, Creating Deeper Faith: I think Buddha said , “life is suffering… And our suffering is caused by our desire that life should be different than it is.” A powerful statement. Obstacles, when looked at from an outside objective, can be used to create deeper faith. The definition of faith that we use is “believe in the yet unseen .” Find out how you can use obstacles, to create a deeper faith in yourself and God today.
  • What Am I Here For? Following God‘s Plan for Your Life:   A number of years ago I ran into a homeless man, who told me a story about the life of a rock, that’s right you read that correctly, the life of a rock, and how this rock, by having faith in God, found out what it’s purpose on earth was. This story is quite amazing, not only because it came from a homeless man, but because it also became one of our number one best-selling books “Rock Star”. Find out how you can use whatever you are facing in life, to create a plan God wants you to use for your existence right now.
  • All Addictions, and Dependencies, Are a Pathway to God: I know, this sounds insane. Yet, we do know that when you’re trying to release an Addiction and or a dependency, the number one tool available is by surrendering your life to something greater than yourself, God or a higher power. I have faced multiple addictions in life, completely clean today, and will tell you that the only way that it is possible is through understanding, that the path to recovery is also a deeper path to a connection with God.
  • The Art of Surrender: How to Go Deeper With Your Faith in Every Area of Life: Surrendering is not giving up…..but rather a giving in to a program that someone else has created. Never easy to do! Through surrender, we drop the “small ego”, and let the “big ego” take over. We surrender our old way of living, to invite a new, deeper path of self love, compassion, forgiveness, service, and living fully in this moment, every moment we are alive.

After  David’s recent sermon at the Unity  of Naples church, Naples Florida, he received another standing ovation for his presentation “Spiritual Rejuvenation.” That afternoon, at his workshop, where they normally have an attendance of 25 to 30 people, David’s presentation “Focus! The proven guide to huge success, a powerful attitude, profound love and spiritual rejuvenation” attracted an overflow crowd of over 70 people.

One of David‘s former clients in his spiritual ministries had this to say about her work with David:

“So many people at our church still continue to speak about how they were moved to change or changed to move through your sermon. Rev. David Essel’s inspiration and passion for life is contagious and many experienced the fire which is necessary to make significant changes in their lives.”

- Reverand Temple Hayes

First Unity Church, St. Petersburg, FL

“I came to David because my marriage was in complete disarray, and I was contemplating divorcing my husband. 12 weeks later, our marriage was on a path of recovery and has become even stronger since then.  I came back to work with David, with the biggest goal I’ve ever set  in life: to become one with God.  He helped me set up a plan, a daily plan that I had never considered before which included journaling, meditation and deep prayer… Within 90 days my whole existence had shifted, peace, contentment and a true love for myself and others was the end result. His work is simply amazing.”

- Lynn

“Rev. David Essel delivered a powerhouse of a Sunday talk at Unity of Naples this past April. He tackled the daunting question, “Why does it seem that my spiritual rejuvenation is so elusive at times?” with clear and inspiring guidance for successful spiritual practice. David shared from his personal life experience of success and challenges with with candor and a good dose of humor. David’s Sunday talk was so so dynamic that his follow up 2 hour workshop was filled to overflowing. Our congregation is looking forward to David’s next presentation at Unity of Naples where they can share their successes and their spiritual growth with him. I personally recommend David Essel as a high energy and highly engaging speaker who knows his topic at depth.”
