What are the best sleep supplements for you?
30% or more Americans struggle with sleep every day.
With the pandemic, it’s only gotten worse.
With all the military challenges around the world, it’s only gotten worse.
With so many struggling financially, with their careers, and their relationships, healthy sleep has become a thing of the past for many people.
So what do we do?
In a previous article, I wrote about sleep patterns and sleep schedules and what to let go of, and how to become more relaxed every evening.
You can read that article right here… Sleep? Do you struggle to get a good night’s sleep?
Today, I want to share just a few of the many supplements out there that we have seen success with our clients over the past 42 years.
As a counselor, minister, and number one best-selling author, I have also struggled deeply with sleep, and have to be very careful about my routines, my schedules, so that I can stay on a pathway of better sleep.
So even counselors struggle with sleep habits!
Many sleep specialists that I have talked to have told me that the biggest challenge with my sleep is my ADD and ADHD, my brain is hyper-creative and is running 24 seven, just like with many other people.
So we have to learn to work with the cards that we’re given, not try to avoid them with alcohol, drugs, too much television, or addictions to social media or video games.
All of the above can totally interfere with your sleep!
So let’s take a look at some of the many sleep supplements that we have found great success with when we recommend many of these to our clients:
Number One. CBD oil. Now, this is a huge surprise even to me! When CBD was first released, I did not believe it had the strength to help people create better sleep habits, but I was dead wrong.
CBD, I would recommend from a medical marijuana dispensary, can be a massive anti-anxiety supplement, and many people with anxiety struggle with sleep because there’s nothing to help relieve the anxious feeling inside.
CBD has also been found to be incredibly effective with restless leg syndrome, something else I have struggled with in the past, and has brought grief relief to myself and most of my clients as well.
Number Two. Calm. This is a magnesium supplement specifically designed to reduce anxiety, increase relaxation which will allow you to fall asleep faster.
Use it as directed, and give it 7 to 14 days for it to be effective before you give up on it.
It’s very safe, and effective for many.
Number Three. THC. This is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, and many people have found a beneficial replacement with THC for their sleep medications like Ambien.
About eight years ago, when Denver first legalized marijuana, we had several clients that were heavily addicted to Ambien go out to Denver for a few weeks to wean themselves office and to use marijuana instead.
The best form of medical marijuana to use is the “Indica strain“, extremely relaxing and has helped many of our clients finally get rest.
Now, the only point of concern, if you have struggled with addictions in the past I will encourage you to start out very slowly with any THC product that you get from a medical marijuana dispensary, and if you find yourself rapidly increasing the dose, or you find yourself using the THC during the day or afternoon then it would be a sign that we’re going back into an addictive response to this substance.
Number Four. Melatonin. Theanine. Valerian Root. Hops. These supplements have been around forever, and for many people, they work individually very very well, and for others, they will find that when they separate out and take only one of them on their own, the result is even better.
